Our Professional Staff

Dr. Dena Bachman graduated from Southwestern High School in 1985. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1989. In 1991, Dr. Bachman was awarded her Bachelor of Visual Sciences (BSVS), and in 1993 she became a Doctor of Optometry by graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry. She received many academic and clinical excellence awards during her time at the Illinois College of Optometry.  

She started her career in the Chicagoland area, practicing at Family Vision Care in LaGrange, Illinois.  

Dr. Bachman opened Southwestern Eye Care in Brighton, Illinois in March 2002. This fulfilled her dream to practice in her hometown.  

She is a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Society for Prevention of Blindness, Illinois Optometric Association, Southwestern Illinois Optometric Society and Infant SEE. She has served as a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and the Optometric Extension Program.  Dr. Bachman has over 25 years experience in primary eye care and specializes in pediatric care especially in the area of vision and learning. 

She currently resides in Brighton with her family where she is active in her church and community.
